Tottenham Hotspur Is Going to Face Arsenal With a Huge Risk
Antonio
Conte is going to take a risk, as the Tottenham Hotspur coach
is giving Fraser
Forster his first debut in the North London Derby.
The 34-year-old is struggling with a muscle problem and is
expected to miss Saturday’s derby game against Arsenal.
According to the Guardian, the
French shot-stopper is a huge doubt for this weekend. So, this indicates that
Antonio Conte has to give a debut to Fraser Forster.
Fraser Forster at Tottenham
Hotspur
Forster signed for Tottenham on a free transfer after his
contract with Southampton expired. The goalkeeper made 134 appearances with the
Saints in his eight years stay.
After joining the club, the once England international has yet
to appear on the field. He spent his time on the bench as an unused substitute
for the club in every match so far.
Another worrying thing is that Forster has not played a single
minute in any competition for almost the last five months. Many believe that
this is a huge risk for Conte to maintain his unbeaten streak in a derby like
this.
Pundits’ Comments on Lloris’s
Absence
At GIVEMESPORT,
Dean Jones told: “The
alternative to Lloris is that Fraser Forster comes in for what would be his
Tottenham debut in a massive fixture”.
He also talked about the risk for Tottenham Hotspur, as he
added: “I’m sure
Forster will have confidence that he could cope with an occasion like that
because that is what you are bought and told to prepare for as a backup
goalkeeper, but that’d be a huge moment for him and a risky moment potentially
for [Antonio] Conte.”
Senior Journalist Tom Barclay also confirmed the news of
Lloris’s injury. He told to GiveMeSport: “It would be a big blow, he’s the
captain as well as their number one goalkeeper”.
Barclay also added how much the Spurs squad will miss their
first-choice keeper: “Fraser
Forster would come in and he’s earned his move to Tottenham, he’s got lots of
Premier League experience, but you can’t take away the qualities that Lloris
has as both a leader and as a goalkeeper.”
Reports suggest that Lloris has suffered a thigh injury. The
France International’s missing out on the game will be a huge blow for Antonio
Conte, as the keeper started all eight games in the Premier League and
Champions League.
Other than Lloris and Forster, Tottenham Hotspur’s only keeper
is Brandon Austin, who has no experience with the first team. Conte has faith
in the former Southampton keeper as he has experience of 400 matches.
