Three Games to Watch Out for This Matchday in Serie A

Serie A games return after a two-week international break. Over the international break, several players traveled, and some of them returned hurt. There are several fascinating games between the top 5 European leagues now that club football has begun.

This week’s Serie A games promise to be intriguing. The whole country of Italy will once again experience drama and excitement as Serie A resumes. Serie A has been really difficult this season. There is no obvious favorite to win the championship since all the teams are battling it out.

Serie A this season is highly competitive. Currently, Napoli is a joint leader along with Atalanta with both clubs having 17 points. In third place, we have a surprise package in Udinese who have been brilliant so far in Serie A. The defending Champions AC Milan are tied with Lazio at 4th place with both teams having 14 points. Jose Mourinho Roma after a bright start has fallen off and is languishing 6th in the table. 

Juventus, once habitual table toppers of Serie A, seems to have lost its old glory. Juventus this year is a bit consistent and is struggling to find their perfect combination in Serie A. With all said and done game week 8 in Serie A is approaching. These are the following Serie A games that are ones to watch out for this weekend.

Three Games to Watch out for this matchday in Serie A 

Inter Milan vs Roma 

One of the most interesting games in Serie A this game week will be Inter Milan hosting Roma at San Siro. Inter Milan this season is struggling. They have lost all important games this season. The most disheartening loss to them will be a loss to their arch-rival AC Milan in the Milan Derby. Then again just before the International break they shockingly lost to Udinese. 

Inter Milan is shaky defensively and leaking goals on frequent occasions this season. They ranked 15th in Serie A when it comes to goals conceded. Inter Milan so far has leaked 11 games in 7 games with 1.6 xG. The attacking return of Lukaku either hasn’t worked for them so far. Lukaku has just managed to score one goal in 7 games he has played so far in Serie A. Overall speaking Inter Milan needs to sort things out quickly and what better way than to do it against Jose Mourinho Roma? 

Coming into Roma they started off brilliantly with 3 wins and one draw. But then the month of September hasn’t been kind to them. Roma played 5 games in September ( including all competitions) and only managed to win 2 out of them. Before coming into this international break Roma was defeated by Atalanta in game week 7. Dybala has been the standout player for Roma this season. He has 5 goal contributions in 7 games so far. Attacking wise Roma tied with league leaders Napoli in the domain of changes created. 

With Roma coming up against struggling Inter Milan. Jose Mourinho would hope his side gets back to its mojo and starts on a winning note this month of October. With Roma playing away from home in a packed San Siro it might turn out to be tricky for them. 

Atalanta vs Fiorentina

Another action pack game in Serie A this weekend will be 2nd placed Atalanta coming up against Fiorentina. Atalanta will be welcoming shaky Fiorentina to their home stadium this week. Atalanta has been the team to watch out for in Serie A so far. They have had an excellent run of form winning 5 games and drawing the remaining two. Atalanta is yet to face defeat this season in Serie A.

Atalanta has been very well drilled defensively this season. They have just conceded 3 goals in 7 games in Serie A. On the attacking front, they have been quite decent. They have had different scores at different times. It has been a complete team effort this season for Atalanta. With Atalanta facing a struggling Fiorentina they will be hoping for a good performance and eventually might get all 3 points from the game. 

Coming into Fiorentina they had tough times in Serie A so far. Fiorentina has been shy attacking-wise. They have managed to score 7 goals in 7 games averaging one goal per game. Defensively they have been compact and haven’t leaked many goals. They have had 2 wins among the 7 games. Fiorentina currently becomes mid-table this season, lying 10th in the table. With them coming against in-form Atalanta it will test them to their limits. 

Napoli vs Torino

The final game on our list to watch out for in Serie A will be league leaders Napoli hosting Torino in Naples. Napoli has been excellent this season. From 7 games played so far, they have won 5 games and have drawn two. Coming into their form they have had a hat trick of wins from the past three game weeks. One of their biggest wins came just before the international break when they defeated the defending Champions AC Milan. Napoli throughout the month of September hasn’t lost any game in all competitions. 

Talking about their opponents Torino had a decent start by winning the first few games. But from last month it seems like they have lost their way. They are coming into this game on the back of 2 back to back defeats. With the coming up against the league leaders it will be a challenging task for Torino.
