T20 WC 2022: New Zealand Cricket Announce Squad For T20 World Cup 2022, Kane Williamson To Lead The Team

T20 WC 2022: New Zealand are one of the teams who are yet to win T20 World Cup since the inception of the tournament. The Black Caps made it to the finals of the T20 World Cup in the last edition.

However, they surrendered at the hands of the Australian cricket team in the final. West Indies are the most-successful team in the T20 World Cup history.

The Caribbeans have won two T20 World Cups. On the other hand, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, England and Australia won a title apiece.

New Zealand are well aware of the mistakes that they made in the last edition. They would be looking forward to correcting their woes and approach the upcoming tournament with grit and determination.

The upcoming edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will begin on October 16. The tournament comes to a close on November 13 in Australia.

As many as 45 games will be played throughout the tournament. It remains to be seen which team will come out and top and win the title this time around.

T20 WC 2022: New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announces squad for the marquee event

New Zealand cricket team will kick-start their campaign on October 22. The Black Caps will lock horns with the Australian cricket team at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney.

Meanwhile, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced the 15-man squad for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2022. Kane Williamson will lead the team from the front.

For the first time, the likes of Finn Allen and Michael Bracewell were selected for the T20 World Cup. Interestingly, New Zealand opener Martin Guptill will be playing his seventh T20 World Cup, which is a record.

For the unversed, the likes of Nathan McCullum and Ross Taylor are the other New Zealanders who have represented their country in 6 T20 World Cups.

“It’s great to have this tournament so soon after last year’s event in which we played some really good cricket, but couldn’t quite get over the line at the end,” said coach New Zealand Gary Stead.

“With the nucleus of that squad retained along with the exciting additions of Finn and Michael, we should go into the tournament with plenty of optimism,” added Stead.
