Sourav Ganguly May Become New ICC Chairman, Jay Shah May Become New BCCI President: Reports
If reports doing the rounds are to be believed then there may be
a huge development happening at the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
As per sources, Sourav
Ganguly may become new ICC chairman and Jay Shah may become the
new BCCI President. However, there hasn’t been any official confirmation yet.
Both the stalwarts of BCCI breathed a sigh of relief on
September 14 as the Supreme Court permitted India’s governing body to amend its
constitution.
As a result, it permits both of them to prolong their respective
contracts. Meanwhile, Sourav and Jay Shah who took charge in 2019 are set to
ply their trade for another term.
According to a report
from Indian Express, Jay Shah could become BCCI’s next president. Interestingly,
as many as 15 state associations are encouraging him for the top job.

Meanwhile, one of the key members of a certain state association
spoke about Jay Shah. He added that it’s about time that Jay Shah should
supervise the BCCI.
The key member on the condition of anonymity further added that
all other associations are even ready to back him.
“It’s high time Shah takes charge of the Indian board, and all
associations are ready to back him,” a key member of a state association
stated.
On the other side of the coin, the current BCCI president Sourav
Ganguly might become the next ICC Chairman, as reported by NDTV.
We might see this happening once Greg Barkley’s contract comes
to a close in November this year. It seems that we can expect some changes at
the BCCI.
The BCCI has been trying its maximum best to give chances to
deserving players. The last time when India won the ICC title was back in 2013.
The Men in Blue won ICC Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni’s tutelage. They are
yet to end the ICC title drought.
