Liverpool News: Liverpool Terminating Arthur Loan Deal?
Liverpool News: English
Premier League outfit Liverpool FC are
reportedly not impressed with Brazilian midfielder Arthur and are thinking
about terminating his loan deal.
A Gremio academy graduate, Arthur Melo started his senior team
career with the Brazilian club. After settling down in the Gremio set-up,
Arthur played a pivotal role in Gremio’s Copa Libertadores victory.
His consistent performances with Gremio helped him to get many
luxurious contracts. Arthur finally decided to join the Spanish giants
Barcelona. Despite having a good start to his Barca career, he could not fulfil
his potential and was sold to Juventus in 2020.
In the next two years, Arthur spent in Turin but his
performances were never consistent enough to make him a key player in the
squad.
Liverpool News: Klopp
unimpressed with Arthur Melo
According to the Italian outlet, Tuttomercatoweb Liverpool is
considering terminating Arthur’s loan deal in January when they have a
replacement for him.
Earlier Thiago Alacantara, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Curtis
Jones, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin suffered injuries that made Liverpool’s
midfield very thin.
This forced Liverpool to look for a short-term option in the
central midfield position. So they went to Turin and signed Brazilian
midfielder Arthur on a season-long loan.
After signing for Liverpool, Arthur was hugely praised by the
German tactician. He also asked the media to give him some time to settle into
the Liverpool structure.
However, now it looks like things have changed drastically.
Arthur has failed to impress German manager Jurgen Klopp so far. Things are so
bad right now that Klopp has asked to ship the midfield back to Turin at the
first chance they get.
Meanwhile, Arthur is also not in the plans of Juventus. Even if
Arthur sees his loan deal getting cancelled, it will be very tough for him to
feature again in Massimiliano Allegri’s team.
Liverpool paid Juventus a loan fee of £3.9 million for the
services of the midfielder. The Merseyside club also has a chance to land the
Brazilian on a permanent basis if they pay £32.4 million at the end of the
season.
Since his loan move, Arthur played only 13 minutes in
Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat against Napoli. He was an unused sub in Liverpool’s last
match.
