Leicester City News: Belgian midfielder Youri
Tielemans has finally broken his silence regarding his
decision to stay at Leicester
City.
Rising from the academy of
the Belgian club Anderlecht, Youri Tielemans was given his first senior team
contract at the age of 16. He played four seasons with Anderlecht’s senior team
and featured in 185 matches.
His brilliant performance
with Anderlecht earned him a five-year contract with Ligue 1 club Monaco.
However, his time in France was not as successful as in Belgium. He was then
loaned out to English
Premier League club Leicester City.
Upon joining Leicester, the
Belgian midfielder quickly became one of the key players of their squad. The
next season he joined the Foxes on a permanent move and has been a great
signing for them so far. Tielemans scored the winner in the 2021 FA Cup final which
helped Leicester to win their first FA cup title.

City News: Tielemans backs his decision
Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans has claimed that his decision
to stay in Leicester was an accurate one.
Since
joining Leicester from Monaco, Tielemans has been one of the best midfielders
in the Premier League. So with his contract getting expired within less than a
year, the Belgian midfielder was targetted by many clubs.
Reportedly
current English Premier league table toppers Arsenal were the most interested
team. However, the Gunners could not reach a deal with him and the move did not
happen.
Meanwhile,
Leicester have got a very bad start to their campaign. The foxes have gathered
only one point from their last seven matches. To put more context into it,
Leicester have now lost their last six Premier League matches. They are
currently in the last position of the table and critics have already fated
their relegation.
However,
even after this Tieleman thinks, “Just because things are getting
worse now at Leicester doesn’t mean I should regret [staying].”
He
further said, “I’m not going to speak too much about my contract
situation at the moment. My family is very happy there [in Leicester] and
that’s important. I didn’t leave in the summer as I always said the project had
to be the right one,”
With
the atmosphere in Leicester looking very gloomy, the midfielder is currently
enjoying his time with the Belgian national team. Tielemans thinks the
international break is currently fresh air for him.
He
has admitted that consecutive defeats have affected the whole Leicester team
and they will have to come out as a different unit after the break.
Meanwhile,
Leicester City’s coach Brendan Rodgers is currently going through huge
criticism for his team’s poor start. The Leicester gaffer has accepted his fate
and will not be in the way if the management decides to sack him.
Leicester
will play Nottingham Forest in their next match.
