IPL 2023: Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin of India praised young Australian all-rounder Cameron Green and boldly declared.

When many were beginning to worry about how Green would perform in ODIs, according to Ashwin, he displayed his power-hitting skills. He noted that the Australian can sweep and can make massive strikes against spinners.

Green amassed 114 runs and two wickets in the previous ODI series against New Zealand. He finished with eight wickets, an economy rate of 3.16, and his best figures of five for 33 in the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe that was completed earlier this month.

Ashwin posted on his YouTube channel, “Just when everyone thought how he would do in the one-day format, he is proving his big-hitting skills.” that IPL teams would be eager to acquire him in the forthcoming IPL Auction. For Australia this year, Green has been in excellent form across all formats, hitting 686 runs and taking 22 wickets.

“He’s hitting them hard. In opposition to the spinners, he possesses his sweep shot. He also possesses long hits. Additionally, he is a tall fast bowler, Ashwin said. He believes that the 23-year-old might be used for the powerplay by IPL teams.

Green has only participated in one T20I match so far; it was in April versus Pakistan. He had two runs scored and two for sixteen in three overs of bowling. “If he doesn’t withdraw, some clubs (in the IPL) may consider playing him on the powerplay and bidding for him this year.

I have no doubt that a team would spend a fortune on him at this year’s auctions “said the bowler, who is 35. Green has played in 14 Tests and 12 ODIs since making his ODI and Test debuts in December 2020. 

In ODIs, Green has scored 270 runs at an average of 54 and claimed 11 wickets. In the longest format, Green has scored 723 runs at an average of 36.15 and claimed 16 wickets. He will next be seen during the three-match T20I series that starts on September 20 in India.

IPL 2023: Who Is Cameron Green?

Australian cricketer Cameron Donald Green is an all-rounder who competes for Perth Scorchers and Western Australia. In December 2020, he made his international debut for the Australian cricket team.

Green was selected for Australia’s limited overs matches against India in October 2020. He was also included in Australia’s Test team for the matches against India in November 2020. On December 2, 2020, Green played in his first One Day International (ODI) for Australia against India.

Prior to the Test series, Green made a century for Australia A in a warm-up game. On December 17, 2020, he played in his first Test match for Australia against India. Against Queensland in March 2021 during the 2020–21 Sheffield Shield season, Green hit 251 runs for Western Australia, his first double century in first-class cricket. Green was included in the Australian Twenty20 International (T20I) team for their tour of Pakistan in February 2022.

On April 5, 2022, he played for Australia against Pakistan in his first T20I match.   He took his first five-wicket haul in an ODI in Townsville in August 2022 against Zimbabwe.  He was selected player of the match in the opening one-day international against New Zealand in Cairns after scoring 89 runs in an exhausting run chase.
