IND vs AUS: Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli rose from the ashes during the finishing stages of the Asia Cup 2022 tourney in the Gulf nation.

When Team India were eliminated from the competition, they locked horns with the Afghanistan national cricket team in the last game of the Super 4 stage.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli did make his active presence count on the pitch by scoring runs against the Afghans. Kohli scored a half-century and went on to score a big knock as well.

He ended up scoring an unbeaten 122 runs off just 61 balls where he batted at a strike-rate of 200. Moreover, it was also Kohli’s first-ever century in Twenty20 Internationals.

Fans, cricket experts, cricketers, former cricketers took to their respective social media handles and heaped praise on Virat Kohli for his innings.

Moreover, it took him 1013 days to end the century drought. Kohli went on to score his 71st international century, only behind Sachin Tendulkar (who has 100 international centuries).

Kohli might not have scored well in the first two T20Is against Aussies but he ensured to score runs in the T20I series decider against Australia in Hyderabad.

The 34-year-old stalwart scored a fantabulous 63 off 48 balls. He struck three boundaries and 4 hits over the fence at a strike-rate of 131.25.

After the game, Kohli made it very clear that he enjoys contributing and do the best for the team. Meanwhile, former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar has opened up on Kohli’s run of form.

While speaking on Star Sports, the former India batting all-rounder reserved the highest praise for Kohli by calling him a “champion batsman”.

“He is a champion batter. Kohli has done that for India for such a long period of time. He knows he is in that phase where he is enjoying his game big time. He knows that the rhythm is back, the hunger is back, you can see that with the body language that he is displaying along with his mates.”

“That’s what you want to see in him, enjoying. There was a phase where the pressure was getting to him. But after the break, the sense of enjoyment is back, the feeling of hitting a cricket ball is back in his game,” Bangar added in a statement while speaking about Virat Kohli.
