FPL Gameweek 8: Picks for Captain and Forwards
FPL finally returns. The Premier League action for gameweek
7 was postponed due to the sad demise of Queen Elizabeth II. The Royal Funeral
will take place on the 17th of September in the famous Westminster
Palace.
With the funeral taking place
in London. The 2 games which were scheduled to happen in London were postponed
by the Premier League. Thus games that stand postponed this weekend are
1. Leeds
vs Manchester United
2. Chelsea
vs Liverpool
3. Brighton
vs Crystal Palace
With 3 out 10 games being
postponed this weekend we have only 7 games taking place thus FPL managers will
be a spot of bother regarding their team selection. Another issue for FPL
managers this gameweek 8 will be whom to captain. Which player should they captain
this week for their respective FPL teams?
Don’t worry all you FPL managers, we are here to help you out with your problems. In this article, we will suggest 3 Picks for your FPL Forwards options, and also these same picks apply to your captain pick too.
3 Picks for FPL Gameweek 8: Forwards and Captain
1. The
Go-To Guy: Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
With Liverpool Mo. Salah and
Luis Diaz are out of contention most of the FPL managers will pick Erling
Haaland as their captain pick for GW8. Erling Haaland since his big money from
Dortmund has been unstoppable. He has made a goal contribution in every game
Manchester City has played so far.
Haaland is a completely
different beast altogether. He has scored 10 goals and assisted once so far in
6 games for Manchester City. From FPL’s perspective, Halland has recorded
67 points in just 6 games averaging 11 points each game. He is yet to go blank
in the premier league but the way he is performing this looks highly
unlikely.
With Manchester City
traveling to Wolves this gameweek. We expect goals as the Wolves are struggling
defensively. Wolves aren’t looking at the Wolves who are known to have compact
defense and are known for defensive solidity. This season they have leaked
goals with in-form Manchester City traveling visiting them it looks like the
Wolves have a tough time defensively.
On the previous three
occasions, Man City has visited Molineux, they have scored 10 goals, so expect
lots of goals when they play Wolves. At this point, it’s fair to say that
Haaland is establishing himself as very fixture-proof, and FPL managers who
don’t captain him will take a serious beating.
2. Second
in Line: Harry Kane ( Spurs)
While Erling Haaland will be
the name on everyone’s list one shouldn’t forget about Harry Kane. Kane has had
a good start to the season and went on doing his business quietly with all the
attention on Haaland.
Coming on to his performance Kane has scored 5 goals in 6 games
and also has recorded one assist so far. He has recorded 40 FPL points so far
and only 2 players have recorded more points than him in the FPL till
now.
Not only Kane is in form but
in gameweek 8 Spurs are against Leicester City. The Foxes are currently at the
bottom of the table in the 20th position. Foxes have conceded 16 goals this
season and looked completely out of shape. It would be a surprise if Kane
wasn’t to extend their misery and his FPL captaincy credentials are strong.
3. Out-of-the-box
choice: Alexander Isak
We know many FPL managers
like to find hidden players in a particular gameweek to go offbeat in trying to
gain more points. Yes, have you guys covered too. Our out-of-the-box choice for
Captaincy and also for striker pick will be Isak of Newscastle. Isak since
joining Newcastle has already shown his quality. He has been outstanding for
Newcastle. He has got 9 points since joining them and doesn’t forget he has
joined them since GW 5.
In Gameweek 8 against Bournemouth, Newcastle
will be anticipating three points because of how good they have been at home so
far this year. In three league games played away from home in 2022–23, the
Cherries have let up a monstrous 16 goals, however, two of those games were
against Man City and Liverpool. Despite this, Newcastle would be dissatisfied
if they weren’t given any opportunities to advance, and Isak may end up being
the perfect candidate for captain for FPL managers who think out of the
box.
