Football News:
Kylian Mbappe’s row with French FA
Football News: After the Paris Saint-Germain striker
allegedly declined to take part in a photoshoot with the national team, Kylian
Mbappe’s dispute with the French FA has persisted.
Mbappe will be in Didier Deschamps’
squad when France participates in a team picture day on Tuesday in advance of
their two Nations League games this week. Mbappe won’t be participating,
though, because the Federation allegedly declined to “alter the agreement” on
the players’ image rights.
Mbappe’s representatives are
also dissatisfied that no agreement could be struck before the World Cup in
Qatar, according to L’Equipe.
Since March, when the forward
refused a marketing initiative including fast food and betting companies, he
has been irate, leading to a dispute.
Football
News: Uncomfortable Mbappe
Mbappe is believed to have felt awkward about his appearance in
such advertisements and to think that the national team uses some players’
photos more than others, changing how they are perceived by the public.
Other
members of the France team withheld their participation in the discussion and
stated they would like a say in the companies that international athletes
partner with.
Le
Parisien reported in March that the former Monaco forward did not want his name
connected to a particular group of sponsors for the French national team,
particularly bookmakers or fast-food restaurants.
According
to reports, Mbappe does not want to be associated with things that are
connected to obesity, and he believes that online gambling poses a risk to his
younger supporters.
Les
Bleus’ sponsors may choose five players to participate in their marketing
efforts, and it appears that Mbappe has once again been chosen. At this time,
it is unknown if he will be punished for declining to participate in the photo
shoot.
What
did Mbappe’s camp say?
Mbappe’s
camp, however, stated in a statement that this disagreement with the French FA
wouldn’t have any bearing on his commitment to and concentrate on the national
team.
His
choice to skip the picture session “clearly does not call into question his
full devotion and his determination to contribute to the collective success of
the national team for the big athletic events to come.”
In an
effort to recover from a disastrous summer camp in which they lost all four of
their games, Deschamps’ team will play Austria at the Stade de France on
Thursday before travelling to Denmark on Sunday.
