CR7’s on-field struggles in the
22/23 season
Ronaldo’s
statement comes amid his on-field struggles at Manchester United this season.
The Portuguese superstar has not had the greatest of starts to the 22/23
season.
He
has featured in all eight matches Man Utd have played so far this season, but
has only scored one goal for the club. Ronaldo had gone goalless in his first
seven matches for Man Utd this season before ending the goal drought in the
eighth game.
Ronaldo,
despite featuring in eight matches, has only made it to the starting XI thrice,
with the rest being appearances off the bench. One of Ronaldo’s three starts
came in Premier League and the other two in Europa League.
Meanwhile,
Ronaldo was linked with a move away from Man Utd in the summer transfer window.
Reports said the Portuguese had asked Man Utd to allow him to leave should they
receive a suitable offer.
Ronaldo
reportedly wanted to play in the Champions League for which Man Utd failed to
qualify for this season after a sixth-place finish in Premier League last
season. Ronaldo ended up staying at Man Utd, with the player failing to secure
an exit from the club.
