Transfer News: Real Madrid Has the Solution to Atletico’s Problem
Atletico Madrid News: Though the transfer
window is shut now, Diego Simeone is
still looking for a striker to sign him in the January window.
Atletico
Madrid‘s final third is still looking weak and
the club is inconsistent in front of the goal.
Simeone had options like Raul de Tomas but the fee left the Madrid club out of
the race to get his signature. Tomas has now joined Rayo Vallecano after a
disputed and forced transfer.
The red and white Madrid is
still studying the possibility of adding a new forward to their ranks in order
to expand alternatives options in the final third.
Atletico Madrid Transfer News: Why Do Atletico Need a Striker?
There is no doubt about Alvaro Morata’s undisputed role in the
number nine position. But their record signing Joao Félix is more
like a center-forward than a striker.
Griezmann’s contract clause
has limited his game time even if he likes to feature.
Matheus Cunha is still a young player who needs more time to develop to be a
regular. For some reason, Angel Correa is featuring lesser than last season.
Real
Madrid’s Solution
But the arch-rival Real
Madrid has the probable solution for
Atletico’s hunt for a striker. Real is looking to offload all the fringe
players who rarely feature for the club. Mariano Diaz is
one of them.
Los Blancos has already offloaded Luca Jovic from their squad on a free
transfer to Fiorentina. Borja Mayoral is another name, that has been sold to
Getafe by Madrid.
Simeone is in the market in search of a cheaper option in the forward position.
Mariano Diaz fits the bill.
He will also suit Simeone’s style. Carlo Ancelotti has no plan with Mariano and
Madrid has transfer-listed him for a long time.
The Spanish-Dominican attacker’s agent, David Aranda, did not receive any
suitable offer for his client in the summer window. But he held talks with the
Turkish giant Fenerbache.
Though Aranda denied “having spoken to anyone”, rumours suggested that they offered a €5 million per year
contract. There was also interest from Celta de Vigo, but nothing came out of
it.
Real Madrid will prefer to cash in on Mariano, as his contract
will expire next summer. Atletico previously benefitted from the Madrid
Castilla player like Saul, Marcos Llorente, and Álvaro Morata. The club is
hopeful that this transfer will not be a miss as well.
Mariano Diaz was a panic buy
from Real Madrid after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. At that moment, he was
given the number 7 kit but did not reach anywhere near the former Madrid great.
After arriving in 2018 from Lyon, he appeared only in 42 matches and scored 6
goals. This is the best time for him to leave his dream club behind.
